Mauney is a 7 year old mixed breed, who had the misfortune of getting hit by a car in 2020. What first seemed to be just a few superficial lacerations, quickly turned into my worst nightmare. Upon ultrasound, it was discovered that Mauney had internal damage that would need emergency surgery to repair. A surgery that was very much out of my price range. I was faced with what seemed to be an impossible decision, either euthanize my otherwise young and healthy best friend or try to figure out how I was going to find such a large amount of money in only a few short hours. A friend of mine, who had come for moral support, took that decision out of my hands and replaced it with his credit card. Promising to pay him back every single cent, I was able to proceed with Mauney's surgery and save his life. 

Recently, I got to thinking about all the cases I've witnessed where there isn't a friend with amazing credit to save the day. I wanted to do more. I knew I could do more to save as many Mauneys as I could.
